American Silver Eagle dollar coins

All US Silver Eagle dollars contain the same amount of silver, one full troy ounce.  The old silver dollars made by the United States government back in the 1800's and early 1900's only had about 77% of an ounce of silver in them.  

So, the newer American Eagle coins have more silver in them than the old silver dollars.

Some of these more modern American Silver Eagle dollars sell for more than the old style Liberty (Morgan and Peace) style silver dollars.  Why is that, you might ask.  Answer: Supply and demand. 

Take a look at the mintage tables below.  They show the quantities of each year's silver eagle dollars that were minted.  Some lower mintage years are harder to find, and consequently will sell at higher prices.
