The proof version of the 2008 American Silver Eagle one ounce coins uses the same Adolph A. Weinman's beautiful Walking Liberty design as the bullion silver eagles made this year. However, these collector version coins are special "proof", struck multiple times with polished dies.

The US Mint says the following about the 2008 American Eagle Silver Proof coin (Item #z86): It is
"packaged in a blue velvet, satin-lined presentation case and accompanied by a custom-designed Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Director of the United States Mint."

Editors note: The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is not really "hand signed" by the mint director. His signature is just a printed on the COA, as with all Certificates of Authenticity that the mint issues with other coins.
